It is hard to find a woman who does not love shoes.  Ed Card learned quickly just how much his wife Susan loves shoes when he married her.   So when they moved to Roanoke, she immediately looked for the best shoe store in town.  Susan is a Roanoke native, and thought she knew where to look.   She also needed shoes for their 2 young sons.   The search was futile – there were no children’s shoe stores, only a handful of women’s shoe stores, and the department store shoes were not exactly right.

So Susan had a great idea!  Let’s open a women’s and children’s shoe store!  We’ll carry beautiful, unique shoes women want.  There will be a great selection of classic comfortable styles and the latest trends and colors.   We’ll carry the best children’s shoes and make sure they are properly fit.   Everyone they talked to said it was a great idea – even Ed!  So in January 2005, The Cobbler’s Wife opened its doors. 

Since then, we have expanded our store to almost double its original size.  We carry over 40 brands of the finest shoes available.  We have a staff of smart, friendly, and well-trained women who know how to help you find what you are looking for.  We know how to fit shoes, how they will fit you, and we will help you find the perfect pair.   Maybe even more than one! 

Our store is stocked with brands everyone knows like Vaneli, Merrell, Kenneth Cole, Anne Klein, New Balance, Stride Rite, Joan and David and Yellow Box.  We also carry brands you may not have heard of, like El Naturalista - cool clogs made in Spain,
Naot - beautiful, comfortable and made in Israel, Tsongas - out of South Africa and Sanita Clogs - the Original Danish clog, still made in Europe.  We span the globe to bring the best of the best to Roanoke!  Our inventory is amazing – we arguably have the largest selection of shoes in Southwestern Virginia and as an independent retailer, we are able to cater to our customers  desires and needs.  We carry narrow widths, womens’ sizes 5 to 11 and will special order any shoe that we can. 

Children’s shoes are special.  They need to fit properly, look cute, and please both the parent and child.  We have an outstanding selection for boys and girls, and will spend as much time as it takes to get it right.
