The need to secure additional education funding for the Littleton Public School District became the driving force for the establishment and incorporation of the Littleton Public Schools Foundation in November of 1991. In March of 1992, the Foundation received a 501(c)3 (nonprofit) status from the IRS.
Through individual donations, grant funding, and corporate partnerships, as well as two annual fund-raising events, the LPS Foundation has provided over $2,000,000 in funding directly to classrooms through grants to LPS teachers, various programs for students, and district-wide programs.
The LPS Foundation has also been instrumental in providing seed funding for broader projects such as:
- Centennial Academics and Arts for Everyone (CA2FE) project at Centennial Elementary
- Wireless hubs for the district's Wireless project
- Educational technologies for science and math classes
- Inspired Writing Project (grades 5-10)
With the help of individuals, business leaders, and corporate partners, the LPS Foundation is committed to providing funding which furthers the academic excellence in Littleton Public schools.
