Details

Marian Homes is a non-profit corporation that provides a supportive, Christian, family-style environment for adults with developmental disabilities. We operate six residences: Gabriel House for women, Alhambra House for men, Alleluia House for women, McGivney House, Fullerton Apartments and Vogel House.

Our residents are 18 years of age or older with mild to profound developmental disabilities. We give preference to those with ill or aging parents who have no other family members to take care of them upon the death of their parents. Developmentally disabled adults who are themselves getting older are also a high priority for placement.

Marian Homes focuses on quality-of-life - the whole person.

Our residents work, play and go to church in the local community. All our activities are designed to foster independence, as they help each individual develop socially, spiritually and emotionally. All residents work outside the home in local restaurants, schools and daycare centers, or in educational or vocational training settings.

Marian Homes is operated by a Board of Directors consisting of parents of individuals with developmental disabilities, professionals in the field of disabilities and representatives of the legal, business and education communities.

We serve all of Southern California and the need is acute.

While state and federal funds cover basic room and board, they do not meet all the expenses of operating the homes, such as mortgage, maintenance, staff, transportation and recreation costs.

And so, we rely on the generosity of individuals, foundations and corporations who support our mission and share our values:

  • To meet the personal needs of each person on an ongoing basis.

  • To provide a helpful environment and safe recreational opportunities.

  • To enhance each individual's social development.

  • To offer caring guidance and sound information to parents and conservators of the individual with developmental disabilities.
