Biography: Born the son of a steel guitar player, Jerry Johnson grew up in a home filled with music and guitars. He was about eight when he picked up his first guitar. By his high school years, Jerry was developing his blues-rock style, which led to his performing as 'Jerry Hendrix', which added heavily to his guitar slinger reputation.

The first gig of the "Fall World Tour of Texas" was a great success! Capacity crowd, great sound, and the Texas band is right on! Jerry is in TEXAS! He was a special guest of Dan Calhoun at the Sealy Flats matinee and a guest of David Tomme that evening. The countdown continued, with Jerry leaving for Texas on September 21. The Simply Texas Blues Festival, in May 2010 was such a great success that Jerry is returning for the “Fall 2010 World Tour of Texas!” with gigs beginning in October and contiuing until New Years Eve.

Jerry says, "Thank you to all the fans who came to our last Canadian appearance at Donnelly’s pub in Dundas. We had great time and were very glad to have you with us."

Jerry drove to Memphis, Tennessee in February 2010, and was thrilled to sit in with the Preston Shannon band at BB Kings blues club on Beale St. After a couple of action-packed days sitting in up and down Beale Street, Jerry reluctantly returned to Canada.
The 2007 cd, "Show me Some Action," recorded at the Jamhouse Studio in Hamilton was nominated for blues recording of the year. "Many thanks to Tony Furtado and Steve Negus." The follow up "Right Now" was recorded at Negus Lab studio in Stoney Creek with Steve Negus again working his magic on the tunes.

After recording his first CD, "Them Damned Johnson" in 2000, Jerry was almost killed in a car crash. A lengthy recovery period followed.

In April 2007 he recorded "Show Me Some Action." After its completion in the fall of 2007, it was nominated for Blues Recording of the Year in Canada. Jerry followed up the recording with steady gigs at clubs and festivals and received great reviews.

In September 2009 the band once again entered a studio, this time the new Negus Lab facility. Here Jerry recorded his second CD, "Right Now." As with the first recording, the songs were recorded in a day and a half.

After the release of "Right Now," many folks suggested to Jerry that he should evangelize his music in Memphis, Tennessee. Jerry did just that, spending time on Beale Street, sitting in with some great musicians, and soaking it all in.

In May 2010 Jerry was invited to play at the "Simply Texas Blues Festival" in San Angelo, Texas. Jerry, who had always wanted to visit Texas, was overwhelmed with the response he received. The town treated him like an old friend. "I'd never had such a warm welcome and made so many friends and fans!” Jerry shares.

Playing guitar is life's passion for this lanky, rag-topped, sizzling six stringer. Feeding off the great reception he received in Texas, Jerry is starting on a new phase of his musical career, showcasing his brand of high-energy Texas style rockin' blues.
