The Esthetics Program of the Montana Academy of Skin Care was established in 2009. The first group of students entered the program in March of 2010. 

 

We're pleased to offer one of a select few programs in the United States that teaches esthetics exclusively. To that end, we offer intensive skin care education in small classes that give our students in intimate and personalized experience.

 

Our Mission Statement 

The mission of Montana Academy of Skin Care is to offer quality education in a creative, nurturing and professional environment. Our students will be prepared to pass the Montana State Board Exam and have the foundation to accelerate both personally and professionally in the Skin Care Industry.

 

Program Licensure 

The Esthetics Program is licensed by the State of Montana Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists.  Graduates of the program are eligible to apply for licensure in Montana.*

 

Montana Academy of Skin Care is licensed by the Montana Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists to provide the 650-hour instructor training program, preparing teachers to take the Montana instructor license test. The Academy is also licensed to provide a 50 hour post graduate microdermabrasion program.

 

Licensure of Estheticians 

The Montana Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists oversee licensure of Esthticians in the the state of Montana*.  The requirements for licensure are:

• must be at least 18 years or older
• high school graduation or equivalent
• 650 hours of training in an approved school of esthetics or esthetics course 
• pass the Montana Board approved Esthetics exam at 75% proficiency or higher 
• $60 license fee, must be renewed every two years

Requirements vary from state to state. The educational requirements for neighboring states are as follows:  

• Idaho—600 hours
• Oregon—250 hours
• Washington—600 hours
• Utah—600 hours
• Wyoming—600 hours

* Students planning to practice in states other than Montana can obtain Montana licensure and in many cases, the license is transferrable to other states by reciprocity agreements. In some cases a practical exam may be required in the state in which the esthetician chooses to practice.
