Details

Morris GlaserMorris Glaser originally worked in the glass business with his brother before moving to New Bedford where he opened his own shop in 1921. Glaser Glass was located in several locations in the downtown New Bedford area before moving to the current location, 1265 Purchase Street in the mid 1950's. Morris's two children, Alvin and Doris, showed an interest and enthusiam for the business at a very young age and after finishing high school started working at Glaser Glass full time with their father. Morris and his two children worked together running Glaser Glass until the late 1960's when Morris semi-retired. Even when not working full time, Morris would continue to go to the shop and offer his experience and advice. As time passed, Alvin took on more and more responsibility, until he gradually took over running the business. Alvin Glaser was the driving force in the expansion and modernization of Glaser Glass.

Alvin GlaserGlaser Glass Corp. continues to be a family-owned small business. Two of Alvin's children, Jeff and Iris, currently work at Glaser Glass. Jeff and Iris represent the third generation of Glasers working to ensure that Morris and Alvins principles of hard work and community service continue into the future.

Glaser Glass Corp., originally known as Morris Glaser Glass Co., has changed over the years. Auto glass was then, as is now, the major part of the business. The business also offers a large range of products and services for the customer's commercial, residential, and marine needs. Windows and screens are repaired, glass, plastics, and lexans are stocked and cut to size. In addition, plate glass tabletops and mirrors can be custom ordered. Glaser Glass has its own beveling machine and insulated unit machine on the premises. The business continues to expand its product lines and services to accommodate its customer's needs.

Integral to the continued success of Glaser Glass has been its loyal customer base. Morris and   Alvin set a standard of delivering to the customer a quality product and personalized customer service.

Crucial to the longevity of Glaser Glass has been its employees. Their team is a group of dedicated professionals who are extremely well trained and experienced. Many of the staff have been part of the business for a very long time. (12 yrs., 20 yrs., 15 years, 30 years, 40 years etc...) After Alvin's death in September of 1996, the assistance of this staff during the transition was remarkable. Invaluable during this time, were long time employees, Ken Daniels, shop foreman, with over 40 yrs. of experience in the glass business at Glaser Glass, and Mike Mclean, auto glass manager.
