LAUREL Automotive SERVICES  

Laurel Automotive was founded in 1998 by John Brucker. Previously located at 125 West Street In Simsbury.  The company’s former name-sake, ‘Laurel Oil Company’ belonged to John’s uncle, Jim McIntyre as founded in 1967. Later ‘Laurel Oil Company’ was sold to Tenneco and is still as it was years ago in Hartford but known today as TLC.  

John Brucker, has fond memories of his father Bill Brucker an engineer who enjoyed to take cars apart with his son. Together they worked on many cars together but especially antique vintage cars. ‘My father gave me the backbone to do this.  I would not have been able to do this without his guidance and advice’. 

John started his professional career in the 1980’s working at ‘Simsbury Auto Parts’. John has a regular and reliable staff and takes pride in running a ‘shop’ where even women could feel comfortable. In the reception area, Kelly with her yellow lab ‘Jimmy’ provides a warm and friendly atmosphere ready to welcome old and new patrons. ‘Even though we enjoy working on old vintage cars our bread and butter is still regular car maintenance.’ 

John who graduated from Simsbury High is an eager musician who has been involved with music since his high school days. His childhood friends and him had a band called the ‘Broken Lonely’ that later disbanded. Today John plays electric guitar for the ‘Wilcox Brothers’ alongside fellow small business owner Kenny Chapman from Vincent Sports Shop.
