We are a new company in Indiana but have experience that extends decades. Below is a little more information about us and where we came from. We at Hickory Meats & More are committed to have a good quality product at a reasonable price. We know many people are watching their pennies like we are in this economic time and we want to help in that matter. We also want to help out other businesses with products that will make them successful too. Whether it be restaurants, caterers, other businesses, or just the public we are committed to provide products that everyone can afford. We are all together in these economic times and we plan to help in any way that we can.

Hickory Meats & More is a family owned and run business. Many years ago Merlin and Elsie Hochstetler started a business in Cando, North Dakota. It was a butcher shop that they ran for 20 years. In that time Merlin had many recipes that he developed and used that were very successful. Some of the recipes were for beef jerky, summer sausage, beef sticks, and ring sausage. People came to their business from all over the country just for their meat products. Families even bought his smoked products like beef jerky and shipped them overseas to family and friends fighting in the war. So one could say that his jerky is world famous. After years in the business they decided to sell the butcher shop and move to Indiana in the fall of 2008 to be closer to their family.

Derek Hochstetler is their son who has lived in Indiana for over 13 years and 10 of those years he spent working in the RV industry. Due to the economic environment of the country and the RV industry Derek started to look at other opportunities for work. After his parents moved down to Indiana he persuaded them to come out of retirement and lend their expertise with a new business adventure in Elkhart, IN. In September 2009 they all partnered together to open Hickory Meats & More Inc. where they feature the tested special recipes of Merlin Hochstetler along with other fresh meat products and new products of bulk food.
