You know how they say all roads lead to Rome?

Well in Cape Girardeau all roads lead downtown!

Downtown is home to locally owned businesses that bring flavor and matchless experiences.

Whether you're looking for fine dining or casual entertainment, exquisite jewelry or timeless antiques, personal services or original art, downtown is the place to be.

Downtown is also home to our history, sense of individuality, beautiful historic architecture and the mighty Mississippi – where the river turns a thousand tales!

Downtown is home to city hall and the federal courthouse where decisions are made daily that shape our community. It is home to Southeast Missouri State University, institute of ambitions and achievements.

And Media Row who together keeps us connected and informed.

Vision Statement
Old Town Cape strives to become a community that cherishes its past and is an economically viable district for the citizens of Cape Girardeau to live, work, and play.

Mission Statement

Main Street Program
The Main Street Program is a proven approach to downtown revitalization that was developed by The National Trust for Historic Preservation. Receiving accreditation from the National Trust is a strenuous process that requires meeting several criteria. To read more about the accreditation process please click here.

As an accredited Main Street Program, we follow a proven approach to downtown revitalization know as The Main Street Four Point Approach. The four points are Promotion, Design, Economic Restructuring and Organization.

Each state has an accreditation center that provides resources to accredited Main Street Programs. Please visitMissouri's Main Street Connection
for information on our state program.
