A Brief History - Road to Independence

Trust your gut. When you know there’s a better way to do something and your gut tells you it’s the right thing to do— you do it. After nearly 18 years as an advisor with a large firm founder Jeff Bernier became frustrated with the inability to serve clients the way he felt they deserved to be served — in a totally objective, holistic (comprehensive) manner. His compelling vision was to create a firm whose advisors had the freedom to research any number of solutions and make recommendations only on those that had the highest probability of success for a family’s unique situation. A vision that would position the advisor as a true advocate, a partner sitting by the client's side, not across the table; a champion for the client.

In 2003, guided by a strong belief that families needed a trusted advocate, and followed by a dedicated staff, Jeff formed TandemGrowth Financial Advisors, LLC as an independent financial planning and investment advisory firm. A year later, furthering its commitment to objectivity, TandemGrowth joined NAPFA (National Association of Personal Financial Advisors) and positioned itself as a fee-only firm. As a fee-only firm, TandemGrowth’s compensation is limited solely to financial planning and investment advisory fees. Today the firm receives no commissions on the products, investments and recommendations that are made to clients. As fiduciaries, the only product the firm sells is: objective advice.
