Backdoor's 2011 Season

Harvey

January 21 – February 5

Main Stage

When Elwood introduces his imaginary friend, Harvey, a 6 ½ foot tall rabbit, at a party, his sister, Veta decides to have him committed. Problems arise when Veta is mistakenly committed because she says living with Elwood's hallucination has caused her to see Harvey! When the truth comes out, the search is on for Elwood and his invisible companion. When he shows up at the sanitarium looking for his long lost friend, Harvey, it seems that Elwood's delusion has had a strange influence on more than one of the doctors. Only at the end does Veta realize that maybe Harvey isn't so bad after all.

The show's Tony Award winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time. 

Camelot

April 22 – May 7

The entire community of CAMELOT awaits the arrival of Guenevere, King Arthur of England's future Queen. Members of the audience are quickly drawn in. Some of the enchanting musical numbers include The Simple Joys of Maidenhood, The Lusty Month of May, How to Handle a Woman, I Loved You Once in Silence, If Ever I Would Leave You and What Do the Simple Folk Do? In the end it is fourteen-year-old Tom who tells the world of Camelot's quest for right and honor and justice.

Young Don Baker, hero of his mother's children's book series, "Donny Dark" has been blind since birth, his overprotective mother following his every move. Don finally decides to take his own apartment in Manhattan and pursue his songwriting ambitions. When she meets his kooky neighbor, sexy actress Jill, Mrs. Baker's controlling instincts go into overdrive with hilariously touching results.

Will Corey finally get the girl of his dreams? Will the Prom night be a success? Will Feargal McFerrin III ever get a date? To find out all these answers and many more...All you have to do is take a journey...BACK TO THE 80's

Frankie is preparing for her daughter’s wedding, and the rumor mill in Fayro, Texas, is working. However, the Futrelle Sisters are no strangers to gossip. They survived the breakup of their gospel trio, The Sermonettes. But Twink's attempts to get her boyfriend of 15 years down the aisle, Frankie's conversations with their dead mother, and Honey Raye's race to the altar at every opportunity have kept tongues wagging. Frankie's hope begins to dim when she discovers the bride and groom have run off to elope. The sisters pull together to find ways to keep guests in the pews tracking down the bride and groom. As a last resort The Sermonettes reunite and sing again. 

CLUE THe MUSicAL

October 7 – October 22

Main Stage

You are invited to help solve the mystery: who killed Mr. Boddy, in what room and with what weapon. The audience receives forms to help deduce the solution from clues given throughout the performance. The audience chooses from cards representing the potential murderers, weapons and rooms; there are 216 possible solutions! Comic antics, witty lyrics and a beguiling score carry the investigation from room to room. Even after the culprit confesses, a surprise twist delights the audience. 

Winter Wonderettes

November 25 – December 10

Dinner Stage

The Wonderettes are entertaining at the 1968 Holiday Party for Harper’s Hardware. Mr. Harper is scheduled to appear as Santa Claus, when he will pass out bonus envelopes. Betty Jean can’t find Santa, but returns with the bonus envelopes instead, but are they bonuses?? Fun and cheer ensue as a “new Santa” emerges with a new Santa’s bag. All ends happily & merrily.
