Becky Jones has been
teaching dance classes for over thirty-eight years.  She is an Atlanta native
who has been dancing since the age of six. Becky trained under Jack Epply and
performed recitals in the old Roxy Theater where Peachtree Plaza now stands.
Although Becky excelled in several dance styles, she has always considered tap
her forte.

Soon after opening her
studio, Becky experienced the loss of her original studio to fire.  Over a
Spring Break, the shops at the Dickson Center were destroyed as the result of an
electrical fire.  At the time, the Atlanta Journal Consititution printed an
article on the determination of the owners to move on with business despite
their losses. Becky was highlighted in the article and was quoted saying, "I
have already reopened classes....  My biggest problem is that I lost a
10-year-old record collection.  I have been telling people we are going to have
dancing lessons even if it means the kids dance to my singing."

Becky Jones School of Dance
moved across Concord Road and stayed in that location until the location closed
for the construction of a new development.  As of January 2008, the dance studio
returned to its original location at the Dickson Center at 760 South Cobb
Drive.  Becky considers her school to have come "full circle" with the recent
move back to the school's first home.
The Becky Jones School of
Dance was born after Becky's daughter was.  After having a girl, Becky decided
to pursue her dreams of teaching dance with the philosophy that children should
have fun and enjoy themselves as they learn to dance.  With that in mind,
classes began on the lower level of the Jones' split level home and neighborhood
children were enrolled.  As word of mouth spread the news of Becky's classes,
the number of students quickly outgrew what her home could hold. Becky then
opened her first studio at the Dickson Center in Smyrna.
