Come down to Smitty's Greenlight Tavern for a beer! Your friends are already there...
THE GREENLIGHT TAVERN, PUEBLO'S ORIGINAL DRINKING ESTABLISHMENT. Established in 1933, is located in the historic Stockgrowers Bank building on the corner of Third St. and Sante Fe Ave. Built in 1874, the entire building has undergone many changes. Originally the home to "Pueblo 400 Exclusive Club" and "Elks Lodge #90" on the 2nd and 3rd floors, and the "Stockgrowers and Mercantile Bank" on the ground floor. Over the years it has also been home to many of Pueblo's original business, too many to list. In 1933, when prohibition was finally abolished the Greenlight Tavern opened it's doors for business. In 1956 the Greenlight was purchased by Linn & Edith Smith, and in 1964 the tavern underwent it's first major transformation. Linn & Edith operated the tavern until "Smitty's" untimely death in 1978, at which time the Smith's children were left with the task of day to day operations. To this day the Greenlight Tavern remains in the Smith family and has been restored to it's original grandeur. The front bar is the focal point and still posses the old time neighborhood bar atmosphere, with the rear open to the stage where we play host to a wide variety of entertainment. Ranging from live rock/reggea/ska/hip-hop/blues/jazz and more. The Greenlight has and remains to be a significant gathering place for many generations of southern Colorado residents. Greg "Smitty" Smith, along with the Smith family and their staff invite you to join them for cocktails and see this magnificent restoration for yourself, become part of history...........
