At Alchemy, we are honored to have the opportunity to work with you and create something that is uniquely yours and can be treasured for many years to come.

Although you may believe that custom made jewelry will have a higher cost than something from the case, it’s not always true. Most of the time, we can produce a high quality, beautiful, stylish custom ring for less than many stores can sell an item of similar quality. The reason is that we create our jewelry in-house. We are a locally owned and efficient small business therefore can sell at a significantly lower markup.

THE CUSTOM DESIGN PROCESS

THE DESIGN APPOINTMENT
The consultation is the most important part of the jewelry design process. We prefer to schedule a 30 to 45 minute design appointment where you can bring in your ideas and meld them with our expertise to create a piece of jewelry that is uniquely yours. You will work directly with an artist (not a salesperson) to choose your favorite looks, examine samples and/or photos, and sketch concepts for a design that will work with your lifestyle and budget. This is our favorite part of the process, as we really get to know you so that we can capture your taste and style in your piece.

If a gemstone is a part of your vision, we will start the process by helping to choose the best stone for you. We stock many fine quality gemstones, but if we don’t have your perfect stone on hand, we will work with your budget to find the best stone for your design and lifestyle.

During your design appointment you can expect:
• A one-on-one with a jewelry artist – not a salesperson.
• A fun, relaxed, creative atmosphere.
• An opportunity to create a handcrafted piece that is uniquely yours.
• Design advice if needed.
• An education on various metals if requested.
• Stone selection and advice to fit your desires and budget.
• A written estimate of the completed project. Written estimates will be honored for 10 days and may be subject to change depending on stone and metals markets.

THE FINALIZED DESIGN
After your design appointment, we’ll take your budget, ideas, and concept sketches and work to create a design of your finished piece of jewelry, along with a finalized quote. Depending on style of your project, the production process may begin with modeling your piece with our state of the art 3-D computer modeling software and photo-realistic renderings will be created. This process can take anywhere from 2 days to more than a week. We will work with you to “tweak” the design until it is as close to your vision as possible. Of course, there are designs where a CAD model is not appropriate. In these cases, we will create full-color drawings of your piece for design approval.

PAYMENT
Once the design is approved and a quote is agreed upon, we require a deposit to move forward. We ask for at least 50% down and full payment on major stones at this point. We do accept all major credit cards, checks, and cash.

TIMELINES
The custom design process, from design appointment to delivery, generally takes about 3 to 6 weeks. Of course, we try to accommodate as much as possible for upcoming events that require a quicker deadline – this of course depends on the complexity of the job and our current workload.

Our promise to you
We guarantee that you will love your custom designed piece. We will be more than happy to modify or rework your design. We’d love to do this free of charge, but in the case that major modifications are requested, we will have to charge a fee for extra labor. In this case, we will work with you, and the recipient of the jewelry, to finalize all needed modifications, and write up an estimate of costs before any work is done.

If you should lose a stone from your jewelry, Alchemy will pay the insurance deductible up to $250.00, so long as the piece is insured under a homeowners, renters, or individual jewelry insurance policy. You must have your jewelry insured!! Any mountings not manufactured by Alchemy must be approved as sturdy, safe and of high quality. If we feel the mounting is not secure, there will be no stone loss warranty issued. Also, we cannot warranty any stone loss due to abuse, neglect, breakage, abrasion, theft or chipping.

In order to keep this stone loss warranty in effect, you agree to have your stone checked by us at least once every six months. You must also have any recommended maintenance done at this time. You will be responsible for any costs related to the stones security beyond the first year.

We warranty all of our workmanship for one calendar year from the date of service or sale. We will not, however, be responsible for any amount, in any case, unless the mounting has been inspected by Alchemy in the last 6 months. Any work preformed by another jeweler other than Alchemy, the warranty will be considered invalid.

We promise to always make a good faith effort to deal fairly and honestly with all of our customers in every way. Your satisfaction and trust is important to us, so feel free to ask any questions.
