What people are saying about Suzette's:

"Wow, this was not at all what I was expecting. I do a lot of driving between Minneapolis and Mankato and stop for dinner in between regularly.

Suzette appears to be roadside diner, next to a car dealership on the Southern outskirts of Jordan, MN alongside Highway 169. The sign says French/Italian cuisine, so based on the location and exterior, I was expecting spaghetti and meatballs with chocolate mousse.

Man was I wrong, I stopped in with Lorae last night. Once inside it looked like a cute bistro in South Minneapolis. The chef, a native of Cambodia, studied culinary arts in the French portion of Switzerland before coming to Minnesota. He was previously a chef at a place called Swiss Alps in Highland Park.

The menu was sophisticated French with some Italian touches as well. I guess I wasn't really expecting Chateau Briand in Jordan, MN. I ended up eating the the scallops and shrimp with Ricotta Manicotti. Very fresh and quality seafood for $13. Lorae had the crab cakes again for $13 really good. The menu ranged from $11-29, with the vast majority between $13-16. There was duck, beef, lamb, chicken and seafood options.

I didn't check to see if there was anything vegetarian, sorry, that's not how I roll.

We topped the meal off with a triple chocolate cheesecake. Man that was rich, you'd better love chocolate.

They sell Cambodian jewelry and bamboo plants, if that tickles your fancy. Also for certain, they are not open Mondays and I don't believe that they are open Sundays either. I think it's Tues-Thurs 4:30-9 and Fri-Sat 4:30-10."  Dan S. Minneapolis, MN

"What an amazing little find! My husband suggested we try this place after he read good reviews. This little spot is tucked away next to the OK Corral off of 169. It has a quaint, bistro style atmosphere inside. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with the menu and suggestions. The food is absolutely amazing. My husband got duck and it was hands down the best we've ever had. It is cooked with the skin on and grilled perfectly - not greasy, not fatty, and oh-so-good. I got the seafood platter (shrimp, scallops, and South African cold water lobster) and, again, everything was cooked to perfection. To top off the great meal, we ordered the fruit napoleon - a pastry stuffed with custard, all the fruit you can imagine, and whipped cream.

The chef/owner was born in Cambodia but studied French cuisine in Switzerland. He's worked in top rated hotels, and took his skills to Jordan. My husband is Cambodian, so we wanted to meet him. He came out and was very nice and appreciative of his customers.

Definitely make the effort to check this place out - all the reviews are fabulous and well deserved."  Katie C. Chaska, MN
