Are you looking for an alternative to the ordinary? Alternative Furnishings is anything but ordinary. Specializing in architectural antiques, stained glass, ironworks and domestic and imported antiques, it offers unique interior design opportunities for those seeking the unusual. "People get excited after they've been here for a few minutes," owner Charm Cameron says. "I am more than happy to help them decide how these architectural pieces can be incorporated into their homes, whether they are already existing, or still under construction." Most of the architectural pieces such as the doors, windows, columns, cabinets, balconies and mantels are one of a kind and come from old churches and buildings in Europe and Asia. We have ethnic imports from India, Mexico, Guatemala, Morocco and off-the-beaten path in Europe, as well as hip-again collectables. Other great finds include: religious art and artifacts, embellished textiles and pillows, retablo oils from Mexico, old world light fixtures, floral arrangements, original fine art and home accessories. Don’t forget to check out our various items constructed from 100+ year old ceiling tin salvaged from all over the USA.

You are invited to visit our downtown McKinney location to explore our wonderful collection of domestic and imported architectural antiques and eclectic furnishings gathered from around the world. A treasure trove of hand-carved doors and windows along with hand forged iron architectural remnants fill the store. Artistic furnishings complete the decor along with original art from local artists.

About Us

Alternative Furnishings, in business since 1998 is owned and operated by McKinney native, Charm Cameron.

The collection at Alternative Furnishings is an alternative to the ordinary. It has evolved into an eclectic mix of art and antiques including furniture, decorative pieces, and architectural elements. Most pieces are from India having been constructed during the British influence (mid to late 1800's). Others are from England, Mexico, Morocco, Guatemala, France, Belgium, Germany, and the good ole U.S.A. We're always looking for "different and unique" pieces. We don't like to have what everyone else has.

Our services also include decorating. We decorated a Parade Home in Frisco and the house was voted Best of the Show by the public attending. The home featured at least thirty pieces of antique architectural items from Alternative Furnishings.

People come from near and far to check out the weekly additions to our inventory. Some of our biggest repeat customers come from out of state. We sell to the public, to designers, and to builders. We give consideration to the trade.
