When diners step into Café Trio, a casual neighborhood gathering spot, they’re immediately embraced by the restaurant’s warm, contemporary ambiance and friendly bustle. Aromas wafting from the oven near the front door tantalize with promises of the fresh, contemporary Italian cuisine that appeals to a broad range of “regulars” – from couples to groups of all sizes and ages, many of whom enjoy the reasonably priced fare two or three times a week for lunch or dinner.

With an open space configuration, large windows and flower-encircled patios, Cafe Trio exudes conviviality, as do our knowledgeable servers.  The two locations in Salt Lake City, owned and operated by restaurateurs Mikel Trapp and Mark Stamler, welcome diners with indoor seating in open, blonde-wood-framed and upholstered booths under tall industrial ceilings.  From late spring through autumn, ample patio seating is a pure delight.  Bright yellow and white retractable awnings, a cooling mist system and heat lamps make it comfortable any time of day.

Though Cafe Trio’s décor is sleek and hip, the food at Café Trio is simple and almost rustic. It’s also unpretentious.  Our Executive Chef  describes the menu as “honest and straightforward; simple with great ingredients.”  Our wine list mirrors his straightforward approach to cuisine. The select list of approximately 30 wines from around the globe is priced from $20 to $40 per bottle and $5 to $8 per glass.

A variety of desserts,  prepared in house daily by our Executive Pastry Chef, are sure to please.  Sample tollhouse pie (a roasted walnut and bittersweet chocolate pie, oh my!) or root beer floats for the kids. End things on a sweet note at Café Trio!
