Grace "Pete" Jackson started Ranchman's Cafe in 1948 in Ponder, Texas as a companion to Jackson's Store, a grocery that was next to the landmark restaurant.  She served so many people there at the counter of the grocery that Pete was forced to open a restaurant in order to accommodate them all. 
 
Even after selling the restaurant in 1992, Pete was still a regular several times a week where she presided over the customers from her favorite chair. 

Although Pete passed away in 1998 at the age of 93 years, her spirit still reigns over each and every steak that is served today.

We offer the following pies: coconut and chocolate meringue, pecan, apple and buttermilk pie. Our cobblers include: peach, cherry and blackberry cobbler.  Check out our pies along with our Texas-sized steak burgers and famous aged steaks.
