OUR MISSION - As an ecumenical ministry of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in response to Christ's love and example, the Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home exists to provide a safe and wholesome environment for the development of children and to bring healing and hope to children and their families.

PROTECTING CHILDREN - CPCH is a licensed General Residential Operation through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services that protects children and teens ages 5-17 who, for various reasons, cannot live with their families.

CPCH accepts children and teens through placement by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Under certain circumstances, CPCH also accepts private placements. We have the capacity to care for 24 children and teens in Residential Care.

CPCH has a strength-focused philosophy of care – we believe in helping our clients identify their strengths and build on them. Our role is to help them develop the tools they need to find solutions to the challenges in their lives.

While in our care, children and teens receive life skills training, counseling, case management, and medical and dental care, along with the basics -- a safe, caring place to live, focus on and assistance with his or her individual goals, clothing, and nutritious meals.

The duration of a child's stay depends on his or her specific needs, and each child is eligible for two years of aftercare upon leaving the program.

SUSTAINING FAMILIES - CPCH's innovative Single Parent Family Program, which is open to both mothers and fathers, began in 1999 with the goal of keeping families together and fostering self-sufficiency. We have the capacity to house seven families in the program.

CPCH has a solution-focused philosophy of care – we believe in helping our clients identify their strengths and build on them. Our role is to help them develop the tools they need to find solutions to the challenges in their lives.

Families in the program receive housing on CPCH's campus, family and individual therapy, education, and job and life skills training. Families typically stay in the program for one year, and are offered a two-year aftercare program upon leaving campus.
