Mission Statement

John F. Kennedy Catholic School, as the Roman Catholic School of Our Lady of Victory Parish, partners with families in accepting and loving children as unique gifts of God.  Through our caring and nurturing parish community, we will help all children identify and share their gifts and talents and develop a Christ-centered character, live their Catholic faith, and achieve academic excellence as they become disciples of Christ.

Academic Success
  • JFK students' ITBS scores are consistently one to three years above national grade equivalents.
  • 85% of JFK grads have 3.0 GPA or better at Assumption High in 2004, with like results at North and West.
  • In 1993 - 2007, twelve of the fourteen valedictorians at Assumption were JFK grads.  Over the last four years, top students at West, North, Central, North Scott, and Assumption were all JFK grads.
  • JFK students took six of sixteen Q. C. Times 2004 High School All Academic awards.
  • JFK students tallied 24% of the National Honor Society membership at Assumption and did similarly well at other area high schools in 2004.
  • Many JFK students are chosen for the elite Belin Summer Institute at the University of Iowa.

Student Achievements and Growth as Individuals
  • The student-to-teacher ratio is 14.7:1.  Many of our staff members currently have or have had their own children attend JFK.
  • Class sizes in 2007-08 average about 18 students per homeroom.
  • JFK students are able to participate in school sports, science fairs, band, music programs, student council, school newspaper, vocabulary/spelling bowls, scouts programs, and field trips.
  • All JFK 5th - 8th graders write research papers and partake in a speech competition, frequently advancing to state levels.
  • JFK's mock trial team is consistently a regional winner and a state competitor.
  • All JFK 7th and 8th graders participate in the Dessert Theater.
  • JFK athletic teams often take home the school league trophies.
  • Parent involvement includes Home and School, Athletic Club, Band Boosters, Theater, tutoring, coaching and volunteering.

Faith - Learned and Experienced
  • JFK curriculum includes daily Religion class.
  • Students and staff are able to study the Scripture readings, discuss faith and moral issues, and learn about Christ's teachings and how they affect their lives.
  • We pray frequently every day and learn how to pray.  Students participate in weekly Mass as a class and have sacramental retreats.
  • We are involved in many service and outreach projects individually, as a class, and as a school.

  • We chose JFK because of class size, secondary teachers, school layout, spacious classrooms, and very friendly people.
  • My family attended JFK so we wanted to allow our children to learn in a K-8 community of respect and a Gospel-based setting.
  • Important issues for us were discipline and respect; being able to include faith with the education taught on a daily basis.
  • There is a sense of community between the school and parish, a very family-like K-8 environment.
  • Key issues for us were a safe environment, smaller classroom sizes, strong discipline, and a lot of parental support.
