Serving Corvallis since 1999

Bernardo Magana & Rafael De La Cruz purchased El Sol de Mexico in January of 1999. At the time, Rafael was the co-owner of another restaurant in Corvallis, El Tapatio and Bernardo was the head chef there.

Together, they both decided to purchase the old Mazzi's Italian restaurant located just off 9th & Garfield. This allowed Magana and Dela Cruz to start from scratch and design a restaurant the way they've always wanted to. The result is a beautiful tile and stucco masterpiece that reflects the designs found in the Mexican state of Jalisco, where they both grew up. Most of the delicious dishes at El Sol de Mexico originate from that region.

In 2007, a new chapter began at El Sol de Mexico, when Rafael sold his part of the El Tapatio restaurant. Both agreed that having two El Sol de Mexico locations in Corvallis would be a great idea. Don't worry though! Each restaurant still maintains their little differences which make each location unique and charming in its own way.

No matter which location you choose, Circle Blvd. or 9th Street, you'll always find a staff that's experienced, caring, accommodating and ready to do whatever it takes to earn your respect and return business.
