Calabro Tire was started in 1941 by Peter Calabro. Recapping was a featured service at that time, and especially important during WWII. Peter served in the Air force and was shot down over Budapest, where he was a prisoner of war for 9 months . Family members continued the tire operation in his absence, and today the business is managed and operated by his 3 children. Calabro Tire & Auto Service has grown into a full service auto repair and tire sales business prominent in the South Pittsburgh community for over 64 years.
