Details

Love, Inc. is a 501c(3) non-profit organization with over 40 different programs dedicated to helping families and individuals live better, more productive lives. That dedication takes an active and sustained commitment from the community. Each year Love, Inc. provides over a half a million dollars in goods and services to those in need.

Originating in 1983 by various community members, Love, Inc. has played a vital role in helping local area families find the resources they need to cope with economic and emotional hardships.

Our Mission Statement: Love, Inc. is a network of churches and individuals working together with the community to identify, assess and provide for the needs of families and individuals and direct them to the appropriate resources.

Our goal is to help families and individuals help themselves.

Love, Inc. makes decisions that will reduce the negative impact on our environment. In 2008 alone we recycled over 292 tons of recyclable material. These items include clothing, shoes, metals and cardboard. The funds are then used to help support our mission. It doesn’t need to be an “either or” situation, we do both.

Love, Inc.s’ green efforts include:

  • reusing plastic bags from donations in the retail stores to reduce waste.
  • buttons from old clothes are used to make craft jars for sale in the retail stores.
  • rags are made out of old clothes unsuitable for resale.
  • recycling cloths, cardboard , paper, metal and wire.
  • and our largest effort is making donated merchandise available for resale at greatly reduced costs.

Thrift Store

Donations of items from our community friends are sorted and sold in our five stores. This revenue provides 65% of our annual budget and allows us to provide clothing and household goods to those in need.

Building and Donation Center

Our Building is our biggest program. It is the facility that provides a place for everything to happen. Our donation center receives, sorts and stores clothing, furniture, books and miscellaneous merchandise which is ultimately sold in one of our five stores. Many of the employees in our buildings are in fact clients who may not be employable elsewhere. The building provides offices and a meeting place for all of our programs. Without the building and donation centers Love, Inc. would not exist.

Starfish Mentoring

This program is run in collaboration with Big Brothers and Big Sister of Racine and Kenosha Counties. We help provide both the big brother and big sister and the littles who are looking for help. The idea is to match adult and high school age mentors with littles who have similar hobbies and interest. This program is very rewarding.
