Who We Are
Kenosha County Humane Society dba Safe Harbor Humane Society is an open admission shelter and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that serves the Kenosha County area. Safe Harbor takes in over 3,300 animals each year and places the majority of these animals into good homes.
Our Mission
To provide exceptional housing and veterinary care to all lost, unwanted, abused, and neglected animals in Kenosha County while finding loving, permanent homes through adoption and education.
Our History
Incorporated in 1916 as a humane society for children and animals, Safe Harbor has taken on many forms. From a humane society with the purpose of preventing abuse, cruelty and neglect of both children and animals, to a city pound attached to the fire department, to the open admission humane society serving all of Kenosha County, Safe Harbor Humane Society has grown with our community. We are devoted to saving the lives of as many pets as possible. Our current site is over 30 years old and holds 100 cats and 42 dogs. In the last few years, we were fortunate enough to add a veterinary suite to the building and hired a veterinarian in 2011. In the fall of 2015 we were able to add additional lobby space to our building as well as two free roaming cat rooms.

In the future we are planning on expanding and updating our dog kennels.
