Racine County is a mix of what’s best about Wisconsin and the Midwest. If you like quiet, small towns, you’ll enjoy our compact and friendly rural villages, like Waterford , Rochester and Union Grove. If you like thriving, busy cities, you’ll want to take in the sights of Racine with its beckoning lakefront, fascinating Frank Lloyd Wright architecture and exciting downtown or experience Burlington nestled in the scenic Fox River valley. If you're looking for accessible suburbs, visit the villages of Mount Pleasant, Caledonia, Sturtevant or Wind Point. If you appreciate the serenity of rolling farmland, you’ll want to spend time on our county highways, which include picturesque rustic roads. And if you love the water, you might find it hard to choose between Lake Michigan to the east and dozens of delightful inland lakes to the west.
Racine County is a prime location in southeastern Wisconsin, located approximately 30 miles south of Milwaukee and 60 miles north of Chicago. Interstate 94 conveniently links the county with Milwaukee, Madison, and Minneapolis to the west, and Chicago and Detroit to the east.
At 333.1 square miles, Racine County is the sixth smallest county in Wisconsin. Racine County's population in the 2010 census was 195,408 giving it the state's third highest population density.
Why Real Racine?
You may be asking this question when viewing our website, reading our visitor guide or seeing an advertisement. There is a reason we decided on “Real Racine” as our name. In 2008, we conducted research to determine the brand for the county. Not a slogan or logo, but a brand. When we asked 'What does Racine County consistently delivers to its visitors?' the response was simply the warmness of our hospitality. Visitors feel welcome as the residents extend their hands and invite them to enjoy the offerings of the community. Racine County has “down-to-earth” people that provide great experiences - they're "real!"
So, please enjoy the beautiful sights of North Beach, the Fox River in Waterford, authentic Danish bakeries and everything else we have to offer. The people of Racine County invite you to make yourself at home. We are Real Racine.
Real Racine (formerly the Racine County Convention and Visitors Bureau) was founded in 1983 as the accredited 501c-6 nonprofit destination marketing organization that oversees tourism promotion and development in Racine County.
“To promote and advocate for the development of Racine County as an attractive visitor destination to enhance the local economy.”
The Real Racine Visitor Center is located near the I-94 and Highway 20 interchange (exit 333.)
