George’s stands on a corner of commitment......

Our doors opened in 1946, when brothers Korun and Krsta Georgieff, Macedonian immigrants, established George’s as a neighborhood gathering place. They served simple food and drink and became a source of entertainment for their guests.

Today, we continue that tradition of welcome, comfort and amusement, but with a firm hope to make life better. We operate George’s with a commitment to …

  • Honor our roots
Our American menu reflects our traditions. Taste our appetizers, soups, sandwiches, pizzas
  • Support local food producers
Our fresh and healthful ingredients are chosen with every effort to buy locally from area farmers, cooperatives and nonprofit organizations.
  • Encourage a thriving arts community
George’s has long been the corner to find live music and expressions of the fine arts through theater and other artistic presentations. To support local artists, we have teamed up with singer-songwriter Brent Mitchell, who performs each Thursday and shares the stage with other artists who wish to showcase their original work.
  • Be a premier place of hospitality,
Reserve our facility for your business meeting, social gathering or family party. We will work with you to create a unique experience and menu that you and your guests will long remember.

You’re invited. Pull up a chair, and get to know us by name . . .

Meet George

George standingGeorge, our kilted penguin waving a trumpet fish and wreathed in laurel, represents the tradition and spirit of this corner of hospitality

It’s no surprise that George is a dapper penguin. The Penguin Players, a local cabaret troupe, got its start at George’s. So did the Over Our Head Players, who performed for the first nine years at George’s and grew to create the Sixth Street Theatre just blocks away in Downtown Racine.

And the kilt? The Racine Kiltie Drum & Bugle Corps has been a local treasure. This group of talented, marching musicians has won national and international awards and is the prized feature of every Racine Fourth of July Parade, which travels right past George’s on Main Street. George’s kilt is a tribute to the group, which included David from 1965 to 1973 and nurtured his love of music, the arts and culture. As you may have guessed, David played the trumpet in the Kilties.

Let George’s help you celebrate!
