Ayurveda is the traditional Hindu system of medicine, which is based on the idea of balance in bodily systems and uses diet, herbal treatment, and yogic breathing.
Ayurveda is a proven ancient health care system, one of the world's oldest holistic (whole-body) healing systems developed thousands of years ago in India. It is based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body and spirit. The primary focus of Ayurvedic medicine is to promote good health, rather than fight disease. Treatments may be recommended for specific health problems, however.
Two Goals of Ayurveda:
1.) To keep the body in a state of health and free from disease.
2.) To show us how to use health as a basis of, or as a part of, the path to enlightenment.
Many things can cause an imbalance of the doshas from the foods we eat, the weather, our lifestyle choices, our environment, emotions & more. When we experience symptoms like gas, bloating, constipation or loose stools, spaciness, criticalness or irritability, our doshas are imbalanced. With diet, lifestyle, & possibly herbs, balance from witihin is achievable.
