accepted in many national shows. The Mississippi Watercolor Society
Best of Show Award and the Joyce Williams Achievement Award in
The American Watercolor Society's 2010 Exhibition are among his
numerous awards. Harry was born in Louisiana and grew up in
Mississippi. After graduating from Auburn University with a degree
in Architecture in the Design Option, he practiced his profession in
Mississippi and Texas. Harry served in WWII and the Korean War.
When retirement approached, he returned to his first love, painting in
watermedia. Shields paintings were featured in the Spring 2007
issue of Watercolor Magazine in an article written by Stephen Doherty,
Editor-in-Chief.
