Class Descriptions

Tippy Toe Ballet: These classes are for ages 2-5 and are designed to introduce students to dance or tumbling while encouraging their free expression and use of space, time and energy. Some use of musical instruments and props help to emphasize the joy of learning.

Kinder Ballet: For ages 4-6 this class is designed to introduce students to ballet. This class combines movement, creativity, music, group interaction, early ballet positions and steps.

Elementary Ballet: For ages 6-8 this class combines elements of movement, creativity, music, ballet positions, steps, and cross floor progressions.

Ballet: For ages 8 and up this class teaches students classical ballet positions, barre work, center floor, leaps and turns.

(Progress in dance is a very individual matter and cannot be rushed. Ballet technique takes many years to fully master. A student may be assigned to the same level for more than one year.)

*Pointe: Teacher placement required. Students are required to take two advanced Ballet classes in addition to their Pointe class.

Combo Classes: Girls and boys ages 3-8 learn the joy of dance in this popular combination class of Tap, Ballet, Jazz, and Tumbling.

Tap: Students will develop sense of rhythm, coordination and clarity of sounds while training in tap steps and routines.

Jazz: This class includes the latest dance moves, flexibility, kicks, leaps, turns, isolations and combinations.

Modern: A contemporary style of dance with technique based on control, breathing and balance with a sense of weight, strength and movement.

Hip Hop: This high-energy class emphasizes the popular dance steps seen in current music videos. Students will learn basic jazz technique as well as pop, urban and funk movement.

Baton: This class shows expression of the body through dance and movement to create a demonstration of strength, flexibility, physical fitness, beauty, aesthetics, and harmony in coordination with the manipulation of the baton.

Performing Company: For ages 9+, teacher placement. Performing Company provides dancers with an opportunity to shine and perform. Performing Company is a fun, high-energy, and challenging class. Performing Company participates in our local parade, various community events and MPAC's recital. Regular attendance in this class is mandatory. Repeat absences may result in your child being dropped from this class.
