Wisconsin Public Radio

Since 1917, a stimulating, informative, entertaining companion.

Since 1917, Wisconsin Public Radio has been offering listeners a stimulating means by which to exchange ideas, and an efficient way to get caught up on the news of the day. A civic and cultural resource which exists to enlighten and enrich the quality of life for the people within its listening area. WPR reflects the values and resources of the University and the State of Wisconsin, and embraces the “Wisconsin Idea”, helping to extend the borders of the University to the State and beyond, and providing significant programming by, for and about the people of Wisconsin.

The Central Region of Wisconsin Public Radio offers a variety of programming on five different stations:

  • WHRM 90.9 FM Wausau • NPR News and Classical Music Network
  • WHBM 90.3 FM Park Falls • Ideas Network
  • WLBL 91.9 FM Wausau • Ideas Network
  • WLBL 930 AM Auburndale • Ideas Network
  • WHAA 89.1 FM Adams • Ideas Network

The Ideas Network programs are more than talk radio, they give you access to politicians, authors, professors, pundits, and other experts for a variety of perspectives on the news of the day and the issues of our time.

The NPR News and Classical Music Network provides NPR programs Morning Edition and All Things Considered plus classical music, opera, folk, world music, and special programming.

Locally, WPR's Central Region produces the Route 51 Show every Thursday from 5:00 - 6:00pm. Heard on all four Central Region Ideas Network Stations, Route 51 is regional talk radio for North Central Wisconsin. RelyLocal Wausau is a proud supporter of Route 51.
