About The Foreigner:

“Froggy” has brought along a friend, a pathologically shy young man named Charlie who is overcome with fear at the thought of making conversation with strangers. So “Froggy,” before departing, tells everyone that Charlie is from an exotic foreign country and speaks no English. Once alone the fun really begins, as Charlie overhears more than he should, the fact that he does fuels the nonstop hilarity of the play and sets up the wildly funny climax in which things go uproariously awry for the “bad guys,” and the “good guys” emerge triumphant.

Our History:

Renton Civic Theatre was founded in 1987, rising like a phoenix from the ases of a dilapidated, boarded-up old movie house. In this case, the transformation from ash to awesome involved paintin the building, recarpeting the interior, and rewiring for theatrical lighting, once the owner of the building consented to a lease.

Our first show was "Yo!", and the first live musical production was "Grease," which opened February 25, 1987. The theatre has been going strong since, featuriung productions of all kinds, from mainstream musicals and popular shows, to off-beat productions for smaller niches.

Generous support from the Boeing Company combined with a successful "Buy the Seats" campaign allowed Renton Civic Theatre to purchase the building in autumn of 1993. We are conveniently located in the heart of downtown Renton, (DTR) and patrons visit us from all over the greater Puget Sound Region. Located at 507 South Third Street, we're easy to find and mere minutes from Seattle, Tukwila and Kent. We'd love to see you at our productions!
