Welcome to Old Renton Book Exchange! We are committed to helping you find the literature you seek at affordable prices.

We have a historic, cozy shop with lots of reading space. It's a great place to get away and browse a while. We are located on a side street in downtown Renton with plenty of free street parking.

We also offer book appraisal, book searches, and special orders. Don't see what you need in our store? No problem! We share stock with Maple Leaf Book Exchange in Issaquah and McDonald's Book Exchange in Redmond. We also honor credit from these stores.

Dacia Hansen

Old Renton Book Exchange

Dacia Hansen owns and has been operating Old Renton Book Exchange since 2010. She has always loved books both as a reader and as a collector. She began working in the used book business in 1999. After many years in the industry, owning her own shop became the logical next career step for her.

"I love being in Downtown Renton!" Given opportunity to talk about it, Dacia will expound on the vibrant business culture, supportive community, and the enthusiatic locals who believe in supporting small, independent businesses. Together these people are envisioning an increasingly bright future for Renton.

An important part of Old Renton Book Exchange's vision is being a strong community partner. In response to requests of their customers, Dacia holds frequent community events at the shop: from author meet-and-greets, to storytimes, to creative conceptions like "Sardonic Salon."

Dacia values our local ecology, which is why she actively supports Friends of Cedar River Watershed. She holds an annual sidewalk sale in which all proceeds go to Friends of Cedar River Watershed, and all books outside are always for donations to the cause.

She also participates in Books to Prisoners (BTP), which is a volunteer-run non-profit that makes books freely available to US prisoners.
