Company History

Hardy & Jensen was started on March 11, 1992 by two leading area installers Dennis J. Hardy & Edward L. Jensen. The company was incorporated on September 1, 1992.
While working for various remodeling contractors over the previous years, Dennis & Ed watched, learned & listened to the qualities it took to maintain high customer satisfaction. We also noted what made most other companies fail, or worse yet, lose their competitive edge. Frustrated with the struggles of poor management & leadership, we decided to "do it right" by starting our own firm.
We knew we had the technical skills to succeed, and believed that treating the customer fairly & professionally would not only allow us to survive, but grow and be a model for others who also set high standards.
We have personally installed thousands of jobs worth millions of dollars, and know what it takes to satisfy customers by treating their home as if it were our own. We have tremendous pride in our craft, not only in projects we do today, but all of the thousands of previous jobs we installed. In fact, this pride led to the name of our company "Hardy & Jensen". How better to demonstrate our commitment to all past, present, and future work than to risk both our names and reputation on the success of our company. This also allows you to know you're dealing with people who have worked, lived and played in the Racine area our entire lives. To you we give our "Best".

Doors
At Hardy & Jensen, we'll help make it easy to choose your new door(s). We have a large selection of styles, designs and colors.
When choosing your door, you may decide you'd like leaded, beveled or decorator glass. Maybe instead of a standard door, you'd like a circle top, ellipse, cathedral top or a different, specialty shape.
We can put in your insulated entrance system in any one of 40 decorator colors or choice of 20 wood grains. Your new patio door can be a slider or hinged and you can even add an extra side panel or two of light. You can choose your insulated storm/screen door from 3 styles and 13 colors.
Our experienced installers will then install and balance your new door for you.

Windows
The windows in your home play an important part in your home's heating/cooling energy efficiency. While there is a large variety of window styles to choose from, you want to be sure the windows you choose are of the finest quality. At Hardy & Jensen, we want only the best for your home also. That's why we use the following windows:
Preservation Collection Marvin Windows
Infinity Windows by Marvin Four Seasons Home Products
Soft Lite

All of our windows are Energy Star rated.

What does NARI Certification mean to you?

Deciding to remodel your home is a big decision. Outside of buying your home, it may be the single biggest investment you make. You need to know that the remodeling contractor you choose is a full-time, dedicated remodeling professional. NARI's certification program offers this assurance through its extensive screening and testing process.
Only full-time, professional remodeling contractors are eligible for certification by NARI. You can be assured that any time you hire a NARI certified remodeling contractor, you are hiring an individual who had made a strong commitment to the professionalism of the remodeling industry and to his or her business and because remodelers are not eligible for verification until the have been actively involved in th remodeling industry for at least five years, you know that the NARI certified remodeling professional you hire has had a number of years to develop the experience and skills that can only be gained through extensive hands-on practice.
In the highly competitive remodeling industry, isn't it good to know that your remodeler has a long-term commitment to his or her work?

How does a remodeling contractor become certified?

NARI certification is a challenging process, requiring extensive knowledge of the industry and a commitment to professional conduct. Even highly experienced and skilled remodelers find the screening and testing process formidable.
Homeowners can gain a sense of security and trust knowing that the NARI certified remodeling professional they hire has:
  • Subjected himself or herself, their work, and their past professional conduct to the scrutiny of NARI's Certification Board. Each certification candidate must provide and outline - and receive and acceptable review - detailing their hands-on experience, industry training, involvement in continuing education, technical skills, practices in business management, as well as association and community service.
  • Committed to intensive study on a broad range of critical industry issues. Most certification candidates participate in a formal study group and spend eight to twelve weeks studying in preparation for the one day written certification exam.
  • Successfully completed a comprehensive written examination covering critical subject areas such as sound business management practices, knowledge of building code and construction law, plans and specifications, proper and sage use of tools and equipment, safety, standards of practice, math, and several special skill areas.
Once awarded their certification, NARI certified remodeling professions must meet annual recertification requiremets involving continuing education and participation in industry related programs.

Who are NARI certified remodeling professionals?

  • NARI's certification program recognizes the skills and achievements of three distinct groups of remodeling professionals of particular interest to homeowners: Certified Remodelers (CRs), Certified Remodeler Specialists (CRSs), and Certified Lead Carpenters (CLCs).
  • Certified Remodelers are professional remodelers who provide a full range of remodeling services. To become a Certified Remodeler, candidates must possess skill and knowledge in a broad range of business management and technical skill areas.
  • Certified Remodeler Specialists are professional remodelers who focus on a specific type of work and serve the needs of homeowners interested in that particular area of technical excellence, such as concrete and masonry work, electrical work, insulation, mechanical systems, plumbing systems roofing, and siding.
  • NARI Certified Lead Carpenters are the hands-on field personnel who oversee every aspect of the project - customer satisfaction, personnel management, administration, etc. - while working on the project.
The screening and certification process is essentially the same for all of NARI's certification designations. And all NARI certified remodeling professionals have pledged to abide by NARI's strict Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. Only the most dedicated professional remodelers can become certified by NARI.
It's no wonder homeowners feel more comfortable relying on remodelers who have earned NARI certification
