What Can You Expect?

You can expect PROMPT service!  We have all been put through the dreaded hour long wait in a doctor’s reception area with year old magazines.  In our clinic, you won’t have to bring a 500 page book that you will have time to read through by the end of your visit.  When we make an appointment – we keep it!  From beginning to end, your first visit with us will not take any longer than an hour.

The first visit is all ABOUT you!smiles

Our priority is your health and wellness.  The doctor is going to sit down with you and actually listen to your concerns.  We want to know everything you can tell us about your condition.  We will then do a complete exam to learn as much as possible about your condition.  Why? Because we want you to be given the personal care and expertise you deserve to achieve maximum health.  This will not be a cookie cutter diagnosis or treatment.  We will study your health history and tests and determine what will be best for you.

The doctor will then meet with you and go over the findings of your examination.  We will determine what kind of care you need and if chiropractic is what you need. If you need something other than what we provide – we will tell you and recommend what you should do. If we can help you – we will tell you and clearly communicate what kind of care you need to achieve your desired health and wellness. By the end of this report you will enjoy the confidence that comes from knowing what is causing your health concerns and what it will take to get to the solution.  No treatments will begin until you understand what is being recommended and agree with this report of findings.  You can expect service not pressure.

Chiropractic Care

If your lower back has bothered you, you are not alone.  Eight out of ten adults will experience low back problems at some time in their lives.  Most symptoms of low back pain are blamed on poor muscle tone in the back, muscle tension, spasms, ligament or muscle tears, and joint problems. In the past individuals have subjected themselves to prolonged bed rest, uncomfortable traction, heavy sedation, injections, and surgery. But there is a safer, more natural approach to healing the back: Chiropractic care

IMG_6434What Is Chiropractic?

Doctors of Chiropractic medicine (D.C.s) adjust the spine with easy, manual thrusts to move the spinal vertebrae back to their normal positions. A chiropractor will sometimes also adjust the joints of the neck, arms, and legs.  Spinal adjustments may relieve a spectrum of ailments such as headaches, certain types of migraines, menstrual cramps, allergies, asthma, stomach disorders, spastic colon, and arm, hand, and leg pain that’s due to dysfunction of the neck or lower back. Some patients with asthma and emphysema turn to chiropractic care to release tension in the chest. Research is helping to determine if manipulation of the neck helps the ears drain properly, thus alleviating otitis media — the ear infection that plagues children. What Happens during a Chiropractic Examination?A chiropractor will take a medical history, conduct physical, neurological, and orthopedic examinations. Chiropractic physicians spend a considerable amount of time assessing posture, examining the spine, testing reflexes, joint motion, and muscle strength. X-rays and other diagnostic images are often used to locate vertebral dysfunction and to rule out disorders like tumors or fractures, which require the attention of other healthcare expert.

What Training Do Chiropractors Have

Chiropractors are licensed in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. A rigorous course of study is necessary to receive a degree of Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.). According to Chiropractic Truth, there are over 60,000 D.C.s practicing in the United States. All state licensing boards require two to four years of undergraduate education, and completion of a four-year chiropractic college course.

Welcome to the Chiropractic Symptom Center

Below you will find information on some of the most common symptoms and issues we deal with in our office.

Bursitis

Bursitis is the Inflammation of the fluid-filled sac (bursa) that lies between a tendon and skin, or between a tendon and bone.  This condition may be acute or chronic.  Bursae are fluid-filled cavities near joints where tendons or muscles pass over bony projections.  They assist movement and reduce friction between moving parts.  Bursitis can be […]

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the compression of the median nerve at the wrist, which may result in numbness, tingling, weakness, or muscle atrophy in the hand and fingers.  Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is common in people who perform repetitive motions of the hand and wrist, such as typing.  When the wrist is poorly positioned, there isn’t […]

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a common condition characterized by widespread pain in joints, muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues.  Some other problems commonly linked with fibromyalgia include fatigue, morning stiffness, sleep problems, headaches, numbness in hands and feet, depression, and anxiety.  Fibromyalgia can develop on its own, or secondary to other musculoskeletal conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, […]

Kids and Chiropractic

daniellaBy now you have experienced firsthand the benefits of chiropractic care to your health.  But what about your children?  Have you ever considered bringing them in for a chiropractic checkup?

Surprisingly, the first stress placed on a child’s spinal column is during the birthing process.  Equally surprising is the fact that 26% of children surveyed at school reported a history of back pain.  A child’s spine is frequently subjected to repeated forces in the process of learning to walk as well as a multitude of childhood mishaps, sports related injuries, and postural strains.  Many adults that come to a chiropractor’s office show evidence of childhood in-juries to their spine that are a contributing factor for their pain today.  This is why it is important to have your child’s spine checked regularly for any signs of spinal imbalances or misalignments.

Fortunately, chiropractic has had many positive results in treating some very common childhood maladies.  Problems like colic, headaches, ear infections, scoliosis, asthma, and even some cases of behavioral problems and bed-wetting have been successfully treated with chiropractic care.  In fact, a recent study showed that children under chiropractic care suffered from fewer ear infections than those whose parents sought medical care alone.

Are chiropractic adjustments safe for children?

Absolutely!  Because a child’s skeletal system is still developing, there is a great deal of elasticity within the joints.  Light pressure is usually all that is needed to adjust a child’s spine. So the next time you come to our office, bring your children.  The few minutes you invest in your child’s spinal checkup may save them needless suffering now and in the future.
