Improving your health with Aloe Vera

Man’s history has many records of the use of plants and herbs for medicinal and cosmetic purposes. For example, there are many records lauding the benefits of Aloe Vera, a plant which originates in North Africa. Take a visit to any health food store or herbalist outlet and you are bound to spot Aloe Vera on a shelf.

The benefits of Aloe Vera is acknowledged by many people who have come to enjoy it. It is popular with people from different countries and backgrounds but there are certain sectors for which it is advisable not to use it. Pregnant women should not use it or anyone suffering from hemorrhoids or irritable bowel syndrome.

Eczema and other skin conditions are also said to be effectively treated with the gel that can be gotten from the Aloe Vera leaf. For the reduction of pain and inflammation resulting from a cut or burn, Aloe Vera can also be effectively used. It is said that the gel boosts the immune system. Chronic constipation, low appetite and other digestive disorders can be treated with the sap of the Aloe Vera plant. Athlete's Foot is another condition that can be treated with Aloe Vera.

As a herb, Aloe Vera is used by some cultures in cooking. For example, in Asian nations such as Japan and Korea, Aloe Vera is a common addition to their Yoghurts and beverages. Skin products such as sunscreen, soaps and shampoos are also found to be greatly improved with the addition of Aloe Vera. This is because, Aloe Vera has been shown to prevent dry skin and scalps when applied to this end.

You can find many different kinds of such products including creams for skin and heat lotions for muscles . It is also offered in markets as a nutritional supplement, laced with vitamins, minerals and more herbs. In some cases, Aloe Vera is blended with ginger oil, turmeric, folic acid and gingseng. Enthusiasts can also take Aloe Vera in the form of a drink, blended with fruits such as apples, cranberries, pomegranates, peaches, grape seed and blackberry.
