Daniel Glick’s interest in the process of recording and reproducing sound was sparked the first time he saw a wire recorder in action. In 1959, when Glick Audio was formally incorporated, the Glick family had already been selling Wollensak recording equipment and Magnavox consoles for several years.

During the 60’s, the ‘console era’ was in full swing, and Daniel and his son Vernon expanded their product offerings to include other high quality manufacturers such as Fisher, Scott, Pilot, Ravenswood, Allen and others.

And then stereo was born.

Audiophiles, the hobbyists of their day, started coming to Glick’s to purchase component audio pieces for their stereo systems. These hobbyists had only one goal in mind, and that was to achieve the finest possible sound the technology of the day could offer. This concept of ‘high fidelity’, combined with the superb material craftsmanship of the best companies of the day—McIntosh, Marantz, JBL, Thorens, Bozak, Tandberg, Dual and others—gave Glick Audio its focus.

Vacuum tubes gave way to transistors in the 60s and 70s as stereo sound reproduction made its first tentative steps into multi-channel media—the “quadraphonic’ era. ‘Quad’ appeared to fade away but eventually resurfaced with many technical improvements as the fusion of audio and video began in the late 80’s. This brought about the early ‘surround sound’ and ‘home theatre’ systems.

As home theater continued to boom through the 90s, Vernon Glick started making plans for retirement. The business was sold to TCW Computers in 2004. With TCW came new vision and new energy, but the name and business ethic of Glick Audio was retained.

Today, Glick Audio and Video is a dynamic company that has integrated a passion for music and video with the ability to network entertainment devices in home and business environments. The result of that integration is a company that can deliver unique audio and video solutions to the customers who dare to ask, “Would it be possible to…”

The answer is always yes.
