Offering flexibility with scheduling and school selection within the district, Xenia Community Schools offers its parents choices with an open enrollment program and year-round school schedule for primary and middle school students. McKinley and Simon Kenton Elementary School both offer a year-round school schedule while five other Xenia elementary schools operate on a traditional school calendar. Warner Middle School, Central Middle School, and Xenia High School operate on a traditional calendar. Open enrollment at Xenia Community Schools permits parents to choose their school—based upon availability in the classroom—and their preferred school calendar year. The diverse student population discovered at Xenia Community School mirrors our rapidly changing world and global acceptance of cultural diversity. With one of the largest geographical school districts in the State of Ohio, Xenia Schools’ students are a melting pot of suburban and rural regions; varying economic backgrounds and racially diverse heritage. Xenia Community School students reside in the City of Xenia, Xenia Township, Village of Wilberforce, Village of Spring Valley and Spring Valley Township. Xenia students learn to value the differences between individuals. State of Ohio proficiency scores for students have consistently improved for the past ten years at Xenia Community Schools as the district continues to strive for excellence. Xenia High School graduates have been named: ●National Merit Scholars ●Appointed to several military academies ●Consistently capture top local, regional and state honors ●Approximately 82 percent of the Class of 2006 will attend institutions of higher education Nearly 1,400 students are enrolled at Xenia High School, which assists all students to achieve their full potential. An exceptional music and drama program joins an award-winning band to form a strong creative arts program. In the Greater Western Ohio Conference, the football team has shared the league title; both the men’s and women’s basketball teams have moved into district and/or regional competitions; men’s and women’s soccer teams have earned district honors; the cross country and golf teams have earned district honors; and the baseball team has earned league honors. Advanced placement opportunities are offered in American History, U.S. Government, Chemistry, Biology and English Language. In addition, honor courses are taught in English, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trignonometry and Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and French.
