Beavercreek City Schools:  An Overview

The Beavercreek City School District is one of the leading public school districts in the state, having received 10 consecutive “Excellent” ratings in Ohio Department of Education State Report Card testing.  Four of the District’s eight schools have been named “National Schools of Excellence”; two have been named “Ohio State Schools of Character”; and one received the prestigious “National School of Character” award from the Washington, D.C.-based Character Education Partnership.

The District has also been selected as a recipient of the “What Parents Want” award from School Match©, an educational research firm that provides school information to the general public.  Only 15 percent of school districts in the country have been selected for this award.

Eight buildings house approximately 8,000 students in preschool through 12th grade, including one high school, two middle schools and five elementaries.  The average teacher-student ratio in the District is 1 teacher for 25 students.  Every building is equipped with instructional media centers, computer labs with high-speed Internet access and up-to-date software and hardware, clinics, multi-purpose rooms and outdoor playgrounds.

Pupils of all abilities are offered excellent academic, social and health services, and character education is emphasized District-wide.

Beavercreek’s high standards of professional development and ongoing education for teachers are reflected in numerous national, state and local awards earned by staff and students.   Beavercreek students consistently exceed national averages on all standardized tests, including proficiency tests, the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, the Cognitive Abilities Test and the ACT and SAT.  As of 2006, Beavercreek High School has produced 320 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists—more than any other high school, public or private, in Greene and Montgomery counties.

Beavercreek parent and community groups offer outstanding support of District schools and student activities, and parent-teacher organizations are very active at all age levels.
