Misty Stathos Agency - State Farm Insurance

“It was about 4:30 am when the phone rang,” Misty Stathos stated as she recounted the story to me about one of her customers worst nightmares, a house fire. By 5:00 am Misty was outside the home, red lights flashing all around, assuring her customers that they would be covered, and arranging hotel accommodations, food and clothing for them during their turmoil.

But that’s just Misty. And it has a lot to do with how she was taught growing up in her stepfather’s agency in Florence. You see, Misty is a second generation State Farm Agent and has deep roots here. While she was born in Lexington, she grew up in Florence and went on to graduate from Francis Marion, all the while working with her stepfather in his State Farm Agency office. After graduating, Misty went off to the “big city” (Atlanta) and worked for three years at the State Farm Regional offices, furthering her career and her knowledge. She then moved back to Florence to manage her stepfather’s agency for four years before coming to Lexington in January of 2009.

“I just felt like it was time,” says Stathos, “I had spent ten years learning about insurance and State Farm products, and felt like it was a natural progression.” She opened originally in McCauley Square, before moving into their current offices in Hope Ferry Landing off of Sunset Blvd. in Lexington. “We have a great team here”, Stathos says proudly of her fully licensed staff which includes Kathy, who is currently in a part time support role, Sandy, who handles claims and customer service, and Tammy, her office manager who has over 20 years experience.

Misty is licensed by LUTCF, is a member of the Lexington Chamber of Commerce, a member of National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, a member of Lexington County Leads Group, and is a recipient of the Young Alumnus Award from Francis Marion University.
