Dr. Rector's medical career has included family practice, emergency medicine, college and sports medicine. He graduated from the University of North Texas Heath Science Center in Ft. Worth, Texas and is board certified in family practice with 20 years of experience. Dr. Rector has studied alongside several integrative medicine doctors over the years and is completing a fellowship in Integrative Medicine through University of Arizona, Center for Integrative Medicine under Dr. Andrew Weil.

Both native Texans, Dr. Rector and his wife Dana have been married 30 years, have three grown children and have recently welcomed their first grandchild. As a lifelong runner, Dr. Rector has completed 18 marathons, including the Boston Marathon. Dr. Rector is an all around outdoor enthusiast and has a deep appreciation and love for God's creation. Having served on over 20 short-term medical mission trips to Africa, Central and South America, Dr. Rector now sits on the board of Global Samaritan Resources, a Christian humanitarian relief organization. His most extensive experience in medical missions was the year he and his family lived among the indigenous Mayan Quiche people of rural Guatemala, providing healthcare to a very poor and under served population.

Dr. Rector has developed the following core beliefs about health:
1. The body has a self-healing capacity. At its optimum level, its power supersedes conventional medicine.

2. The majority of chronic illnesses in Western societies are preventable or minimized with non-drug approaches that include: nutritional therapy, exercise, environmental, relational and spiritual health as well as maintaining a centered balanced lifestyle.

3. Our choices profoundly impact our well being; therefore, each person is their own most important "health care provider" by their own daily choices.

4. The physician's primary role is not only to identify disease but to search out the factors that lead to a loss of health. Then the physician is to teach and guide the patient how to live a healthy life and should strive to model these principles of wellness.
