Hello, my name is Melien Lavoie and I live in the beautiful North West part of Connecticut with my husband and daughter. I grew up in South Africa where I studied as a Graphic Designer loving Concept Development. I come from 3 generations of teachers and have experience with Speech and Language Therapy while teaching special needs children in Ireland and as a Pre-K teacher in the US.
Growing up in a country where fulfilling your basic needs can be a daily struggle I was taught from a young age to have compassion and to serve the community that serves me. Becoming a RelyLocal owner just seemed like the prefect fit and the best way I could serve while being able to help my community of local small businesses with the skills and experience I have. As a graphic designer it is very difficult for me to see corporate ‘products’ with ‘brilliant branding’ deceiving consumers.
