Swedish massage is one of the most popular forms of massage used in North America. The Swedish massage technique is designed to increase the amount of oxygen that is delivered to the muscles. This helps to flush out toxins and improve the flexibility and health of your muscles.

Deep-tissue massage is a vigorous therapy used to loosen areas of hardened or inflexible muscles and tissues. It targets the deep layers of your muscles and tendons, helping to release tension and chronic muscle pain. Because deep tissue massage uses slower and deeper strokes than Swedish massage therapy, you may feel a little pain immediately following your treatment. However, this pain should disappear within a day or so.

It is becoming more common for a physician to write a prescription to treat many types of ailments (fibromyalgia, etc.) and disease. Often times a physical therapist will be used in conjunction with a massage therapist to achieve desired results of treatment. This type of massage can vary greatly from area specific to full body massage.

Myofascial release techniques help to relieve stiffness and tightness in your body’s fascia, caused by myofascial pain. The fascia is a thin layer of tissue that covers all of your muscles and organs. In fibromyalgia, sometimes the fascia can become extremely short and tense, resulting in pain. Myofascial release therapy uses stretching techniques to relieve this pain. The therapist first locates an area of tightness on your body. He gradually stretches this area, holds the stretch, and then allows the fascia to relax. The process is repeated until the fascia is completely relaxed.

Pregnancy massage is designed to decrease tension and swelling and increase circulation for both pregnant women and those who have just given birth.

Oncology Massage is the branch of massage therapy that is specifically dedicated towards cancer patients. It is a way of providing extra care to cancer patients on their journey back to good health. Research has shown that cancer patients do in fact benefit from the therapeutic effects of massage therapy. Oncology massage can also be applied to the patient during any stage of their cancer treatment, including when first diagnosed or when on the road to recovery.

Sports massage is a particular branch of massage that focuses on relieving skeleton-muscular tension and returning the muscles to a loose, relaxed state. Received regularly this may help athletes prevent injuries, which might otherwise be caused by overuse. A constant build up of tension in the muscles from regular activity may lead to stresses on joints, ligaments, tendons, as well as the muscles themselves.
We look forward to hearing from you and helping you on your journey back to greater health!
